Daily College Fantasy Football QB Picks – (Saturday 8/25)

Here are the week 1 (Saturday 8/25) Daily College Fantasy football Quarterback picks. There’s honestly not a ton to choose from, but there are some QB’s that haven’t played before. That should leave lots of room to fill out unique lineups and brings a lot more “luck factor” into play than your typical NFL DFS contest.

K.J. CARTA-SAMUELS (CSU) $10,800 DraftKings (#1)
KJ enters the 1st slate of the 2018 CFB season as the most expensive QB by $1,800 dollars over the next player – and for good reason. He was originally going to UCLA – but changed his mind after CSU’s potential starter got hurt. That should pave the way for him to get plenty of love from the head coach.

In terms of the matchup – it’s juicy on paper. Hawaii gave up 29 passing TDs last season, with only 9 INTs. QB’s threw for a rather hefty 63.8% too.

COLE MCDONALD (HAW) $9,000 DraftKings (#2)
CHEVAN CORDEIRO (HAW) $8,100 DraftKings (#4)
I list these two together because Hawaii released a depth chart with them listed as “Co-Starters” – but a beat writer expects McDonald to start with Cordeiro “ready in the bullpen”. Certainly not ideal, but not always a bad thing. In this case, both QB’s are considered “Dual Threat” so a big run is possible. If you’re looking to have a very unique lineup (in a tournament for example) starting one of these guys as your only QB would be about as risky as it gets …. but could pay off big if they outscore Carta-Samuels who’s likely going to have massive usage numbers across all formats.

The matchup also hints at sleeper viability here too. Colorado State isn’t known for its pass defense last year when QBs averaged 243.1 yards per game. However, CSU did have a respectable run defense last season … which are these QBs strength. However, with CSU being -14 game flow would indicate these QBs will be in throw mode most of the game.

TYLER VANDER WAAL (WYO) $6,100 DraftKings (#10)
This is an interesting matchup against a so-so pass defense, and the Wyoming head coach seems to like what Vander Waal has done to lead up to securing the starting QB job. The Vegas Spread seems to indicate a game where Wyoming should be in passing mode, at least for a large portion of the game, which makes Waal an interesting Super-Flex option on DraftKings.

MATT ROMERO (NMS) $7,500 DraftKings (#6)
With the short slate, Romero is the “sleeper” pick if that’s possible with only 3 games on the schedule. He enters as a 2 year JUCO transfer, where he apparently has been bulking up & is now the starter at New Mexico State. Normally, this would make him an attractive sleeper play – but Wyoming returns one of the best pass defenses in the country (like top 5 FBS good) where 8 players are returning. Similar to McDonald & Cordeiro – that makes him more of a “contrarian sleeper” …. so in other words – a huge gamble.

As a bonus – here’s some hot cheerleaders you might see on the sidelines of this weeks games
