Okay, so I’m going to post the Thursday-Friday slate of games like I normally do. There’s a Wed/Thur slate on Fanduel – so you’ll have to combine the two picks essentially, however in cash games you’re likely going to be stacking a large number of players from the Bowling Green game, so the addition of 2 other games won’t effect you too much, at least at the QB spot.
Here are the games I am making picks from here for QB:
Virginia Tech @ Georgia Tech (-3.5) 53.5 o/u
Louisiana Lafayette @ South Alabama (-2.5) 61 o/u
USC (-16.5) @ Colorado 61.5 o/u
Sefo Liufau – Colorado
I like home underdog QB’s facing a pass defense that isn’t all that great. That being said, I think Liufau has limited upside, so strictly a lower-end cash game start for me since I think he maxes out in the 20ish fantasy points if we’re lucky.
Justin Thomas – Georgia Tech
Given that the other QB’s in this slate aren’t reaching typical point-per-dollar (PPD) value we’re used to … that makes Thomas a viable play. He’s risky because I would imagine he doesn’t get more than 17 passing attempts, but he’s capable of getting 8-10 fantasy points through the run game. If he were to get 15 – 18 fantasy points, that would be in-line with the PPD I’m projecting from the other QBs in this group.
Cody Kessler – USC
USC is all about that run game right now, plus his best WR was in a cast earlier this week – all that makes Kessler a risky play across the board at these prices. He hasn’t sniffed reaching value in the last 3 weeks. He does face a favorable Colorado pass defense, and it’s possible he has a bounce back game, but you sure do have to chew up a lot of salary to hope that it’s this week.
Cody Clements – South Alabama
Usable in tournamnets I think because his price is a little to rich for cash given his performances. Blew up last week, but some of it had to do with field position.
Jalen Nixon – ULL
Total shot in the dark here but the matchup says Nixon should play more this game. South Alabama has a poor run defense, but an above average pass defense. However, Brooks Haack is the starter and should get the bulk of the reps and is viable too, but I don’t love the matchup. ULL’s coach seemed regretful to not get Nixon more snaps in last weeks game. Nixon was spectacular at times this season. He’s nothing more than a flyer $1 tournament type guy, but has the upside potential that could easily set you up perfectly if he snaps off a huge play or two.
