Here are my top-tier QB picks this week. No real sleeper options for you on this list, but at this stage of the season – you’re probably better off running with solid options at QB. There are a few 70+ O/U games this week, so not picking a QB from one of these games will be a mistake if you play in multiple leagues.
Johnny Manziel – vs Auburn
Johnny Football is an amazing play just about any week. This week he goes against Auburn who’s got a solid defense, but they shouldn’t be able to stop Johnny. Vegas has a rather larger 72 O/U on this one. If you can save $$ on some other players, putting Johnny in this week is another good move.
Marcus Mariota – vs Washington State
Washington St. is going to get smashed in this one. Vegas has Oregon as a 40pt favorite. If you don’t mind your QB getting his numbers the first 3 quarters, this is your guy. And 3 quarters might be all you need.
Devin Gardner – vs Indiana
Great matchup this week against a team that basically can’t stop the throw or run. Gardner is a solid run/pass option. Vegas only has Michigan as a 9.5 favorite and the O/U is 67.5 – so it’s a green light for Gardner again this week.
Derek Carr – vs UNLV
Some sites don’t let you pick Fresno State games, but if they do – it’s going to be a house party in Fresno this weekend. Carr’s team is a 24 point favorite and the O/U is set at 74.
Sean Mannion – at Cal
Had 4 TD’s last game. Goes against one of the NCAA’s worst defenses this week. Vegas O/U is 71.5 and Oregon State is only a 10.5 favorite. Thats as green as lights can be so Mannion should be in tons of lineups this week.
Bryce Petty – Iowa State Cyclones
Another cupcake team for Baylor this week, and Petty has done damage in the several other games they’ve blown teams out this year. O/U is 76 and Baylor is a massive 33 point favorite.
Taysom Hill – at Houston
Depending on what site you play on Taysom might be a little bit expensive … or kind of a cheaper option. I like him if he’s cheaper because he hasn’t been the most consistent thrower, but always seems to get the job done. Is a run/pass option QB. Houston actually has a pretty good defense, and Vegas only has BYU as a 9pt favorite.
Jameis Winston – at Clemson
You have to put a guy with 19 TDs through 5 weeks on the board, but his matchup isn’t as easy as they have been. This week Jameis’ team is a 3 point favorite and the O/U is 64. I think he has another good week, but this isn’t the cupcake matchup some other QBs have this week.
Davis Webb – at West Virginia
WV is near the bottom of the barrel when it comes to defenses, and this fill-in QB has had some great games this season. If he’s cheap on your DFS – he’s a solid option this week.
