I was asked about TE’s on twitter today and it reminded me that I had forgotten to add my TE picks for the Thursday (9/3/2015) College Football games. Instead of running through the top 5 or 10 TE’s you can easily tell for yourself have a chance to get stats, I’m going to cover some (near) minimum price ($2,000) on FanDuel. Keep in mind, these are hail-mary type selections that have a chance at getting you 0. However, I’ve seen plenty of winning lineups include 0’s at one or more positions. I know daily fantasy is often about optimizing each positions output, but that could mean punting the TE spot, which leaves you more $$ on the power positions in daily college fantasy football.
Week 1 CFB (Thursday) – QB Picks
Week 1 CFB (Thursday) – WR Picks
Week 1 CFB (Thursday) – RB Picks
Remember, these are minimum priced (sleeper TE) guys. The likelihood of ZERO fantasy points is high. However any production will be magnified due to low usage and low price.
AKIL DAN-FODIO – FIU – Minimum Price
The starter is Jonnu Smith, and is an excellent selection for a sleeper TE if you have no $$ to spend. However, backup Dan-Fodio appears to get in the action along side Smith. Last season, Dan-Fodio 5 straight weeks with at least 1 catch. I think if you need a minimum priced TE with a track record of playing time, Dan-Fodio is not a bad option.
– Central Michigan – $2,500
At only $500 over minimum price McCord breaks the bank a little but not too much. He’s the starter. The head coach said McCord was “as good a tight end as there is in college football
.” McCord must be a hard worker to gain that kind of public praise from a head coach. Last season he got in the action most games
, so he can be utilized as a cheap TE if you don’t want to spend much more.BRANDON LINGEN
– Minnesota – $2,200
Injury to starter Lincoln Plsek appears it will clear the way for Lingen to start. I hate the matchup against a fairly solid #2 ranked TCU team. Lingen got injured last season and only had 2 catches
, but one was against TCU. At only $200 over the minimum daily college fantasy football player salary on FanDuel, I believe Lingen could sneak in and get you a catch in this game.
MATT MORIN – Arizona – Minimum Price
He’s a backup. Actually he was third string, but an injury to Trevor Wood has moved him to #2 on the depth chart. I honestly have no idea if he’ll even play in the game, let alone get any stats … however if you need a shot-in-the-dark type TE pick, Morin isn’t a terrible option. Arizona will likely be ahead in this game late, meaning backups might see significant playing time.
KYLE MARKWAY – South Carolina – Minimum Price
So he’s listed 3rd on the depth chart, however one writer thought this was a surprise because Markway is on the scout team. However, starter Jerell Adams is expected to miss the game, so there could be a chance Markway makes it into the game against a weak pass defense.
