Note: This selection page is for Fanduel’s Early Friday CFB slate of games listed below. I will post picks specifically for Draftkings later today as well.
This is a really interesting slate of college football on Fanduel. Honestly I think it’s perfect for a wide range of lineups …. and in those spots I actually like to play cash games & tournaments. If you can’t dial in a lineup you’re comfortable with – just stick to tournaments, but if you can build a really good cash game lineup … it’s slates like these where you can really clean up against grinders who play risky lineups that don’t hit.
Here are the games we are picking from. Remember – I’ll post picks specifically for Draftkings later tonight – as their slate of games is slightly different.
FanDuel (Early Only)
Navy @ Houston (-1) 61 o/u
Western Michigan @ Toledo (-8) 60 o/u
Marshall @ WKU (-10.5) 63.5 o/u
Miami @ Pitt (-6.5) 55 o/u
Kent State @ Akron (-10.5) 39 o/u
Eastern Michigan @ Central Michigan (-23.5) 59 o/u
Troy @ Georgia State (-1) 57.5 o/u
Missouri @ Arkansas (-14) 44.5 o/u
Iowa (-1.5) @ Nebraska 58 o/u
Boise State (-7.5) @ San Jose State 58 o/u
Washington State @ Washington (-6.5) 53.5 o/u
By now, most of you are going to be familiar with the names above. Most of them face teams that are above average on pass defense. I think the way to use the guys above is actually in tournaments where they’ll be lower owned than normal … and each still has 2+ TD upside. Now below are going to be the high-end WRs that have good matchups/I like on Friday – along with a mix of cheaper WRs that I think can be used in spots as well.
Tyler Boyd – Pitt
Rare 10+ touch type WR that is hard to find in any level of football. I think you can pair him with QB Nathan Peterman in some spots, but just playing Boyd is likely the winning play.
Corey Davis – WMU
One of the better matchups, but not super easy. WMU is an 8 point underdog, so chances for Davis should come early & often.
Daniel Braverman – WMU
Blew up last week after 3 weeks of not doing much.
Jesse Kroll – CMU
CMU is a huge favorite in this game, but Kroll is the #1 target on the team.
Devonte Allen – Marshall
Senior. Is capable of a big game in this spot.
Dustin Creel – EMU
His team is a 3+ score underdog so you have to expect he’ll get plenty of targets.
Teddy Ruben – Troy
Likely for paycheck purposes, Troy’s actually played some really good teams on the road this season. When Ruben faces a weaker defense, he usually does well for a WR in this price range.
Jaydon Mickens – Washington
If you need a really cheap WR – Mickens isn’t a terrible option given his matchup. However, like most WRs this price – his upside is likely in the 15 fantasy point range.
Here are a few TE’s that I think are viable. Honestly there’s a nice group to select from so you can select a TE that fits your budget. Punting the position might not be a really great idea either considering there’s some talent here that could put up some stats.
Ryan Yurachek – $3,900 Marshall
Billy Freeman – $3,900 San Jose State
Hunter Henry $4,300 / Jeremy Sprinkle $3,700 Arkansas
