Daily Fantasy College Football Cheaper Sleepers – Week 6

Saving money is good! Here are some guys on my radar this week that will help you save a bit of money & probably provide some upside.

QB – Tommy Armstrong – Nebraska
For the second week in a row, Tommy Armstrong will fill in for injured QB Taylor Martiez. Last week, Armstrong was 12/15 for 169 yards with 1 TD. He also had 5 carries for 38 yards. This week he faces off agaist Illinois. Vegas has the over/under at 60.5 and Nebraska is a 9 point favorite at home. Based on the team stats, I rate Illinois as a mid-tier defense, but certainly not one of the best. On this site, Tommy is only $2,750 – which would allow you to spend big bucks on other positions.

QB – Jared Goff – Cal
After being pulled from last weeks game (vs Oregon) early … it appears the coach was just testing his young QB. Last weeks game was played in a pouring rain and it was the 18 year olds 1st road game. This week he is back at home against a decent team – but Vegas has this one being a high scoring shootout. If the site DFS you play on de-valued this QB because he was pulled he might be a solid play again.

RB – Keith Marshall – Georgia
PURE BUTTER matchup! Almost a must play if he’s a mid-lower tier priced back on your DFS – and Gurley is ruled out or limited. Keep in mind that he’s the backup, but this run D sucks. He’s only $4,750 on this site … well below average for this type of opportunity. Gurley did NOT practice on Friday – and the head coach of Georgia said “Marshall can carry the ball as many times as we need him to.”

RB – Savon Huggins – Rutgers
Paul James is hurt and it will be Savon Huggins show. He had 21 carries for 96 yards & a TD in week 2 … but only has one catch on the season. Your hope is he gets into that 20+ carries mark. Many daily fantasy sites have his salary upgraded due to James’ injury – but if the site you play on has him cheap – he’s a solid option for less money at RB. Vegas has the Over/Under at 55 in this game, and Rutgers is a 4 pt favorite against Southern Methodist. DraftStreet has him well down the list of RB’s and he’s nearly half the price of the top-tier backs.

RB (WR) – Tony Pierson – Kansas
This guy is listed as a RB on most sites, but he really is a weapon in the passing game for Kansas. On the year (3 weeks) he only has 11 carries, but has 15 catches. In PPR leagues that give you 1pt for a catch, this player can be a very valuable play. On this site, he’s $4,250 – which will allow you to spend money on some other players & get upside at this position. Kansas is a 17 underdog against Texas Tech this week … so Tony might be seeing plenty of looks.

WR – Chris Conley – Georgia
This week Georgia faces off against Tennessee – which has one of the worst pass defense in the NCAA. Vegas does have Georgia as a 11 point favorite but the over/under is 64 – so there should be some scoring in this game. Conley is one of the cheaper Georgia WR’s but lead the team in receptions last week (5) and had 5 receptions the week before too. He’s not super cheap, but he’s only $4,000 on this site – which is below average.

WR – Cody Latimer – Indiana
This guy has been beasting the last 2 weeks – catching over 130+ yards in both games … along with getting 1 TD in each game. His salary is $4,500 on this site – but that is still below average for a player that has been on a hot streak. Indiana has lots of WR’s, so trying to pick the one that will go off is difficult. Vegas does have this game being close (Penn State a small favorite on the road) … and the over/under is rather high at 66 points.

WR – Gabe Marks – Washington State
Not exactly cheap on all sites, but if you consider his matchup this week (Cal) … who has given up an average of 45 points per game to teams this year … AND Vegas has this one basically a pick-em game with an o/u of 67 points! That should lead to tons of opportunites in this game. 2 weeks ago Marks was targeted on almost 30% of the passing plays. This site has him for $8,716, which is well below other options this week.

WR – Jaelen Strong – Arizona State
Another WR that is not exaclty super cheap … but you don’t want to go too low on your board considering there are some major studs at this position this year. Jaelen Strong has been a steady performer for ASU this season – and is a mid-tier option on most DFS, so you are saving a bit with him, along with having upside. This week he faces off against Notre Dame – who have struggled against the pass at times this year. The last 2 weeks Strong has had 19 catches against Pac 12 teams (Stanford & USC) – so this could be another strong game for Strong. Depending on where you play – Strong may not be a cheaper option. On this site he’s $5,500 which is outside the top 15 WR’s but on this site – he’s the 4th ranked WR.

WR – Darius Joseph – SMU
Hasn’t had less than 8 catches in a game all season! PPR dream, and this week he goes against Rutgers – who isn’t exactly the worlds best pass defense, but they aren’t too bad. Vegas has this one being a close and somewhat high scoring game. You can have Joseph for $5,000 on this site, which is a few thousand cheaper than the top-end WR’s this week.
