We’ve got some solid Thursday and Friday games, that if you want to get involved in, they aren’t some bad options … but I’m not including these guys in my list. I may grow this list going into Friday, but these are the guys I’m looking at this week. I don’t think there is a lock of the week, but Taylor Kelly’s matchup looks like the best on paper of the top-tier. There are a few low-priced guys with great matchups and I’ve included them as well.
Week 11 RB Picks
Taylor Kelly – at Utah 4:00
Hot QB right now, had an amazing 7 TDs last week and looks to keep things rolling this week. AZ is only a 7 point favorite, so I like that and O/U is 64 … so that’s good too. Utah is a mid-to-bottom tier passing D, so check that in the good column too, that’s why he’s my #1 guy this week.
Johnny Football – vs Mississippi State 3:30
Okay, not the buttery matchup for Johnny like last week was – but he’s Johnny Football and hasn’t let owners down. His team is roughly a 3 score favorite and O/U is 66.5 …. is there upside at his price tag? Maybe, but your going to have to find some sleepers if you roll with Johnny this week.
Jameis Winston – at Wake Forest 12:00 pm
I wasn’t a huge fan of him last week, mainly because it was a rivalry game, but this week he should be trying to get back into the Heisman talk against a somewhat weak defense.
Blake Bortles – vs Houston 7:00 pm
A hot/cold type year, but had 5 TD’s last week, and faces an okay team, that does give up yards to QBs this year … but can get INTs too. Blake is a mid-priced option with some upside.
Garrett Gilbert – at Cin 12:00 pm
I’m a fan of this guy – especially when he was cheaper, and I think he’s gotten better as the weeks have gone on. This week he faces off against a team that has a very solid pass defense, so I probably won’t be risking it with him. However, SMU is an underdog, so he rates to throw all day (but they do that anyway).
Cody Kessler – at Cal 3:00
My token, “play the QB that plays Cal pick” this week goes to Cody. I think his upside is 2 TDs, but he’s only $4,750 on DraftKings, which is pretty cheap for a QB going against the NCAA’s worst defense.
Nathan Scheelhaase – at Indiana 3:30 pm
This guy has played some tough teams the last few weeks (Penn St, Mich St, Wisconsin, Nebraska) … and has struggled a bit. He goes against a much easier team this week and could return to normal form. On most sites he’s mid-to low priced option, with upside.
Tyler Russell – at Texas A&M
Johny Football’s team D sucks, and unfortunately MSU’s starting QB is dealing with the loss of his mother. We don’t blame Dak Prescott if he needs to take the weekend off, and Tyler Russell will become the starter (just check to see on Saturday). He is only $3,000 on DraftKings, but is a very risky, but cheap play at a key position.
