Here are our RB picks for the week. No real surprises, but we’ve got a few players ranked lower due to tough matchups.
Marshawn Lynch – at St. Louis
The Rams should be in scramble mode this week as they are without Sam Bradford. The fact their run defense is one of the worst in the league is not going to help matters either. Lynch is a must play if you can fit him in your budget this week.
Frank Gore – vs Jacksonville (Games In LONDON)
Old man Gore goes against what is essentially the leagues worst run defense. Usually gets about 20 carries per game, and had 2 TDs last week. I think he is still a mid-priced option on most daily fantasy sites and with this kind of matchup – you’re getting great value.
Knowshon Moreno – vs Washington
Moreno has TDs in each of the last 4 games, and this week faces off against a weak Redskins run defense. While you know Moreno is not going to be a 20+ carry guy, he’s a solid mid-priced play that doesn’t come out much due to the weak play of Ronnie Hillman & others.
LeSean McCoy – vs NY Giants
What seems like a solid matchup on paper (and could turn out to be a good matchup) may not be all that rosy once the game gets going. The Eagles will either have a gimpy Vick or Matt Barkley starting for them. The Giants played Minnesota last week and lined up 8 guys in the box and went 1-on-1 with the Vikings WR’s … essentially shutting down Peterson. I think if Barkley starts, you might want to avoid McCoy because the Giants will just make Barkley beat them, but if Vick starts, use McCoy as your budget fits.
Jamaal Charles – vs Cleveland
Cleveland has been respectable against the run this year, and given that Charles is the most expensive RB on most daily fantasy sites this week, makes me worry. While he should put up good numbers, I think you’re rolling the dice a bit because you’re going to have to cut salary if you have Charles in your backfield this week … and the matchups not super.
Eddie Lacy – at Minnesota
The last 3 week Eddie Lacy has 20+ carries, and that rates to continue this week as Minnesota looks like a bad football team heading into this week. The Vikings actually have a decent run-d … but the Packers should pose enough threat in the passing game to open up some lanes for Lacy this week.
Reggie Bush – vs Dallas
Reggie was pretty quite last week against a tough Bengals D … but the Lions did move the ball through the air, just Bush wasn’t apart of the action much. The positive is the Bush got 20 carries, had 3 catches for 44 yards, but did not get into the endzone. Your upside this week is that Reggie gets a TD against a run defense that is pretty good.
Adrian Peterson – vs Green Bay
Hated how the Vikings offense looked on Monday night against an equally poor team in the NY Giants. Green Bay is a solid run d – and most teams are stuck trying to throw against them, as the Green Bay offense is one of the best in the league. I would avoid AP this week.
